A Mathematical Model for Zika Virus Infection and Microcephaly Risk Considering Sexual and Vertical Transmission

چکیده

We establish a compartmental model for Zika virus disease transmission, with particular attention paid to microcephaly, the main threat of disease. To this end, we consider separate microcephaly-related compartments affected infants, as well role asymptomatic carriers, influence seasonality and transmission through sexual contact. determine basic reproduction number corresponding time-dependent time-constant study dependence value on mosquito-related parameters. In addition, demonstrate global stability disease-free periodic solution if R0<1, whereas persists when R0>1. fit our data from Colombia between 2015 2017 case study. The fitting is used figure out how affects cases among women microcephaly cases. Our sensitivity analyses conclude that most effective ways prevent Zika-related are preventing mosquito bites controlling populations, providing protection during

Microcephaly in Zika Virus Infection

Zika virus (ZIKV) is a flavivirus transmitted by the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes with recent outbreaks in the Americas, and 84 countries and territories reporting active ZIKV transmission [1-3]. One of the greatest concerns regarding ZIKV infection is the risk of microcephaly. Microcephaly is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by a head size less than 2 standard devia...

Zika Virus Infection and Microcephaly: Evidence for a Causal Link

Zika virus (ZIKV) is a flavivirus related to the Dengue, yellow fever and West Nile viruses. Since the explosive outbreaks of ZIKV in Latin America in 2015, a sudden increase in the number of microcephaly cases has been observed in infants of women who were pregnant when they contracted the virus. The severity of this condition raises grave concerns, and extensive studies on the possible link b...

Surveillance for Zika virus infection, microcephaly and Guillain-Barré syndrome

Zika virus transmission is primarily vector-borne, mainly via Aedes mosquitoes. The virus can also be found in various body fluids and transmission by sexual contact has also been reported. Aedes aegypti, the principal vector, is found in tropical and subtropical climates and adapts well to urban areas, living in and around human habitations. The areas affected by Zika virus lie within areas af...
